The Applied Psychometric Laboratory is dedicated to conducting research on methods and statistical models for measuring psychological attributes and extending this research into best practices for the application of psychological measurement to applied problems, such as employee selection and organizational surveys. Much of our research involves the use of item response theory (IRT), which is a framework for understanding how scores on psychological measures relate to the attributes they attempt to measure, particularly in personality and attitude measurement. In addition to basic research, the lab has also been involved in applied projects, working with companies including Procter & Gamble, Select International, and Upside Risk. The lab is affiliated with the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program at UGA.
