Department Grievance Procedures: The Psychology Department recognizes the rights of all students and faculty to be treated with courtesy, respect, and fairness. In instances in which a student believes they are not being so treated, it is appropriate for the student to seek resolution. This generally follows the procedures outlined here: -- Informal resolution of the problem through discussion with the person(s) directly involved. -- If informal resolution is unsuccessful or is not appropriate, the student should seek consultation with the faculty advisor/supervisor. -- If the faculty advisor is unable to assist or the student is not comfortable with discussion with their faculty advisor, they should discuss with their Program Chair or directly with the Head of the Department of Psychology -- Another avenue is to go directly to the University Ombudsperson Program for assistance in determining applicable appeal/grievance procedures. Students and faculty of the Psychology Department are subject to the grievance procedures described in the Department of Psychology Graduate Studies Policy Manual and to other University of Georgia procedures, including those described in the Academic Affairs Policy Manual and by the Graduate School. -- Another avenue to voice a complaint is through the UGA Student Complaints Portal. For us, you would select Franklin College, then select “Submit a Complaint”. Note, you have to use your MYID for this, but it is supposed to be confidential.
