The Psychology Undergraduate Assistant (PUA) Experiential Learning Program aims to leverage the success of undergraduates who have completed the course in which they serve and wish to share their knowledge and abilities with their peers. Through experiential learning, participants provide valuable knowledge, insight, and learning strategies for both the students and the instructional team they work with, while also furthering their own mastery of related material. PUAs work directly with the instructional team, including the professor and Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs), to help with various tasks, including hosting office hours, assisting with in-class activities, and providing peer feedback on written assignments, as needed. PUAs are regularly challenged to demonstrate strong leadership and reinforce they knowledge about course material through their interactions with the students inside and outside of the classroom. Additional job requirements may apply. The PUA Experiential Learning Program has two tracks: Paid Track: This track pays a rate of $11.00 per hour up to a maximum number of 8 hours per week. Experiential Learning Track: This track is unpaid, but it fulfills the university experiential learning requirement . Regardless of track, PUAs are expected to work between 6-8 hours per week. Participants must have taken the course they're assigned to at the University of Georgia and received a satisfactory grade. Participants are chosen based on a competitive application process, which includes a holistic look at the student's application, including, but not limited to, their prior experience, performance in the assigned course, GPA, and scheduling availability. NOTE: For the spring 2024 semester, we are recruiting PUAs for PSYC 1101 (Elementary Psychology); PSYC 3980 (Research Design in Psychology); PSYC 3990 (Research Analysis/Statistics); and PSYC 4210 (Psych Testing). EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING REQUIREMENT As of spring 2024, the Psychology Undergraduate Assistant (PUA) Experiential Learning Program Experiential Learning Track fulfills the Experiential Learning Requirement.
