Congratulations to Drs. Ehrlich and Strauss on their NARSAD Young Investigator Grants!

Congratulations to Dr. Katie Ehrlich and Dr. Greg Strauss who both received NARSAD Young Investigator Grants! The grants, awarded annually, support the work of early-career scientists with innovative ideas for groundbreaking neurobiological research seeking to identify causes, improve treatments and develop prevention strategies for psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Ehrlich will investigate how difficult socioeconomic circumstances may have physiological consequences that result in mental illnesses, such as depression. She will assess young people’s depressive symptoms and behavioral problems at school, and measure indicators of inflammatory immune responses, which are linked to depression.

Dr. Strauss is interested in the early identification and prevention of psychosis. He hopes to facilitate efforts to target the prodromal phase of illness, which occurs prior to the onset of psychotic disorder when functioning declines and clinical symptoms gradually emerge over late adolescence.

Keep up the outstanding work!
