Three athletes with ties to UGA’s Department of Psychology competed in the Olympic Games in Paris. Javier Acevedo Javier represented Canada in Men’s Swimming and Diving (100m Backstroke). This was his third time competing in the Olympic Games. Javier graduated from UGA in Spring 2021 with a BS in Psychology. Ana Da Silva Ana represented Brazil in Women’s Track and Field (Women’s Shot Put). This was her first Olympic appearance. Ana graduated from UGA in Spring 2024 with a BS in Psychology. Ieva Maluka Ieva, a recent transfer student to UGA, represented Latvia in Women’s Swimming and Diving (100m & 200m Freestyle). This was her second time competing in the Olympics. Ieva is currently an undergrad majoring in Psychology at UGA.
