Membership Requirements

Requirements for undergraduate students
  • Must be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program
    • At UGA, only psychology majors may become official members because UGA does not have a psychology minor
  • Must have completed at least 3 semesters (or equivalent) of full-time college coursework
  • Must have completed at least 9 semester hours of psychology classes
    • AP/IB Psychology counts for credit!
  • Must have at least an overall GPA of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale)
    • Must have at least a 3.0 psychology GPA
  • * Points are no longer required for general membership

     

Requirements for undergraduate transfer students
  • Must meet all of the undergraduate eligibility requirements (posted above)
  • Must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours at UGA
  • Must have received 9 semester hours of psychology classes
    • AP/IB Psychology counts for credit!

       

Requirements for graduate students
  • Must have at least a 3.3 overall GPA in all graduate coursework
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program in any field of psychology

How to Join Psi Chi

  • Applications are now OPEN until February 25, 2026 at 4:30 PM.

  • If you are interested in applying, please visit this document to access the application and for more information. 

  • To apply, please submit the application, your unofficial UGA transcript, and an $80 cash or check made payable to UGA Psi Chi to Tomeka Waller in the Main Psychology building office (located on the second floor by the elevators).

    • If your application is denied (i.e. if you do not meet the requirements to become an official member of Psi Chi), you will be refunded.

  • Please also fill out an application through the Psi Chi International Honor Society website.

  • Remember that anyone can come to our meetings, regardless of your official membership status. It is encouraged that official members and non-official members attend!
